Ekol Logistics is an integrated logistics company established in 1990. The company serves its customers in 15 countries. The services provided by Ekol include inbound & outbound logistics and warehousing. Sakura facility, the facility in which we conduct our project, is located in Gebze/Kocaeli and provides its customers the service of warehouse management. In the current system, we have observed the problems related to dedicated workforce system which are mainly daily unbalanced workload within the different worker groups. Problems related to inefficient worker assignment has also been observed. To solve all of the above problems, we have created a system that can suggest the number of the subcontracted workers who should be called on each day of the week and the names & total number of the workers who should be assigned to the overtime shifts by looking at their performance values and the booked shipments that is coming within the following week. Also our system can point out which worker should be assigned to which tasks and the time intervals of the tasks that the worker going to be assigned. Our system consists of 2 MIP models. The first model decides the overall weekly planning while the second model decides the detailed planning of every worker’s daily schedule. The models are integrated to take inputs from and give output to the MS Excel program.
