Turkish Technic provides maintenance and repair services to 13 different airline companies. Material Planning Department, where we are performing the project, classifies parts and plans them accordingly. Some parts can be used instead of each other (interchangeability) and a part can be used in given planes only (commonality). In current system, since system does not consider interchangeability and commonality relations, there is a high number of stockouts and a big difference in number of parts proposed by system and purchased by engineer. Our goal is to develop a decision support system that will help to minimize the cost considering costs, interchangeability and commonality relations.
